ferry from alcatraz to sf
No real fashion here, only a few images that got me thinking. A friend from LA came up to SF for a visit and treated me to a day at Alcatraz. Never been there before, so I experienced it through the new eyes of a tourist. This pic from the bay makes me think of NYC/Long Island ferries and SATC life...
Signs in the gift shop- that for some reason weren't on display in the cell blocks- but maybe I wasn't paying the best attention. Ironic, isn't it? The worst prisoners of their day were entitled to more benefits than a normal, law-abiding citizen is now. If you have been "good" and were raised to follow the rules, you are NOT entitled to any of the above- especially food, clothing, shelter, or medical attention. You're left to fend for yourself, however you may come across these life necessities. If you're that desperate, maybe you should just break the law...
REGULATION #20: RECREATION
As a general rule, you will work eight hours a day,
five days a week, with Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays
devoted to recreation.
REGULATION #33: DINING ROOM RULES
Meals are served three times a day in the dining room.
Do not exceed the ration. Do not waste food.
REGULATION #21: WORK
You are required to work
at whatever you are told to do.
at whatever you are told to do.
I guess prison is really supposed to be where you learn how to readjust to living among the rest of society. Based on these regulations, I can't quite tell how prison is much different from the life of most law-abiding citizens. Should I really be scared then about committing a crime or being sent to jail??
I guess for convicted sociopaths, living life just like every one else is torture enough.
